In a world where you barely have time to watch television let alone watch what you eat, you might have missed the news about Omega-3 and its potential health benefits. Perhaps you were too busy working or looking for electricity services at places like http://www.shopelectricityratestexas.com to hear about the medical breakthroughs surrounding this fatty acid, but there is no need to worry. I have written up a short piece on all the mind-blowing medical benefits that can come from adding a little Omega-3 to your daily diet.

For starters, let’s talk a little bit about just what Omega-3 is. As stated earlier, Omega-3 are fatty acids and they can typically be found in fish or plant oils. While not scientifically proven to be the healthiest substance on Earth, plenty of health improvements seem to correlate with the ingestion of Omega-3 in its various forms. In cancer studies, the ingestion of Omega-3 seemed to have preventative qualities for many different forms of cancer including breast and colon. Omega-3 was also reported to have the ability to reduce the size of prostate tumors as well. Another study also pointed to the potential improvements of the immune system when infant baby formula was supplemented with fish oil containing Omega-3.

Whoever you choose to believe, the facts don’t lie and while our understanding of Omega-3 is only beginning, one cannot deny the strange correlations between the ingestions of these fatty acids and the health improvements that soon follow. If you aren’t convinced, consider trying it yourself.

Omega-3 fatty acids certainly provide the body with all manner of health benefits. Improved heart health, lowered blood pressure, less complicated pregnancies, and even reductions in mood disorders have been connected to taking Omega-3-s. Most will note the best source of Omega-3-s are cold water fish. There are scores of different fish which live in cold water. Which one would be the best source of Omega-3 fatty acids?

Most will point to salmon as the number one fish to select if you are looking to acquire a solid source of these very helpful fatty acids.Additional information can be found at http://www.everydayhealth.com/diabetes/type2/preventing/tips/balancing-omega-3s.aspx. Salmon contain a high volume of these fatty acids and, most importantly, salmon is accessible to most people looking to purchase fish. It is neither exotic nor expensive which means the average consumer has the potential to afford it. There are some other excellent cold water fish which are high in omega-3-s but the price associated with them is so high many would not be able to afford them.

Salmon is also easy to cook and there are many simple recipes which can easily be employed by even novice chefs. Of course, purchasing pre-cooked salmon is also an option. Either way, salmon will always remain the best source of Omega-3 fatty acids.

Taking multivitamins can be a great way to insure that dieters and regular eaters alike take in the full range of essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients, some of which are hard to find in sufficient quantities in the average diet. Omega-3 fatty acids, in particular, are becoming more and more common as ingredients in multivitamins, and add a great, healthy nutrient to the diet.

Omega-3 fatty acids are “long chain” fatty acids that, when consumed regularly, contribute significantly to the reduction of the likelihood of developing cardiovascular disease. Over time, unhealthy saturated fats build up in arteries and blood vessels, constricting blood flow.Didn-t catch that? This explains it. Eventually, this results in high blood pressure, or worse, stroke in victims. A healthy diet rich in healthy fats, such as omega-3 fatty acids, contributes positively to warding off high blood pressure or risk of stroke by combating the accumulation of unhealthy fats in the circulatory system.

While many dieters have been conditioned to believe that all fats are bad and unhealthy, the human body needs fats to produce energy and to drive various systems. Choosing to consume only healthy fats, or at least very few unhealthy fats, can help consumers lose weight, reduce body fat, and achieve better cardiovascular health.

Studies have shown that many people are deficient in omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids promote heart, brain and skin health. Additionally, researchers have also found that pregnant women who consume omega 3 fatty acids have fewer complications and healthier babies than those who do not. The easiest way to get the recommended intake of this nutrient is to eat fish. However, some people do not like the taste of fish. Fortunately, there are many dairy products today that have Omega -3 fatty acids added to them.

Fontina cheese has 406 mg of Omega-3 fatty acids in it. Mozerrella cheese that was made with whole milk has about 250 mg of Omega 3 fatty acids in it. Whole milk that is 3.25 percent fat has 250 mg of Omega 3 fatty acids. Raw eggs the highest content of this nutrient. Just one raw egg contains nearly 600 mg of Omega 3 fatty acids. People who do not like eggs can try a liquid egg substitute. A liquid egg substitute has about 438 mg of Omega 3 Fatty acids in it.

Eating more dairy products is an easy way for people to get more Omega 3 fatty acids in their diet.
